Since I reinstalled Windows 7 I have been experiencing heat issues which is no surprise to me since I have noticed them on everything I have installed Windows 7 on. I honestly think at this point the reason Windows 7 runs faster is because somehow they rewrote the code to tax your system harder. I noticed right away on laptops while watching any type of video the laptop would kick the fans on full blast and they would stay on. The poor little ECS on board video chip was running so hot I couldn’t even touch it with my finger for 2 seconds without getting burned. This was obviously causing video issues after a few hours of use with the case closed. Once again I will cover more of this in my Windows 7 write up.
I received an e-mail from Newegg about an Asus Radeon HD 4350 video card for $28.00 with a $1o.00 mail in rebate, The card is now back up to $35. I ordered that so i could use my Asus board I ordered a while back because it was an open box that I couldn’t pass up. The board is an Asus M4A78 Plus SLI with an AMD 770 chipset. I originally bought the board for my gaming PC but decided I would use it where its needed for now.
Once again I got the shaft on my new board and only received a bare board in a white box which sucks but it was still a great deal. This board is fully AM3 compatible so you bet your sweet ass I’ll be swapping out this power hungry AM2+ Phenom for a more powerful, lower power consumption AM3 design chip. I also tested the second PCI-E x16 slot with my TV tuner and it works, so I know I can still add another tuner to this board even with the lack of the PCI-e x1 slot.
